STOCKTON — The Stockton 99 Speedway features Pro Late Model and Legends of 99 action on Saturday, ending a stretch of three consecutive race weekends.
Round 4 of the local divisions will return to Stockton, starring the best drivers on the West Coast. This will be the final time touring divisions turn laps at the speedway until June.
In the Pro Late Models, Ripon’s Eric Nascimento is the defending winner. The Nascimento Motorsports driver dominated the 76-lap event on May 3, winning by just under 3 seconds.
Nascimento leads the series standings with a total of 55 points earned. Turlock driver Chris Monez trails the leader by four points, while Henk Gaalswky of Ripon is five points behind.
When the Legends of 99 raced on March 30, this series was split into two divisions. First to take the track were the semi-pro Young Lion drivers, who were followed by racers in the Pro series.
In the Young Lion class, Yucaipa’s Chase Burgeson took home the win ahead Kai Lovell of Willits. At 18, Burgeson captured the 2024 California Limited Pro Late Model championship.
As for Lovell, he was the 2024 NorCal Legends runner-up and recently picked up his first Legend win of the season. On May 10, he drove from fourth to first at Redwood Acres Raceway.
Another driver to keep an eye on is the 15-year-old Hayden Stepps from Oakdale. Stepps leads the Legends of 99 points and made her Pro Late Model debut three weekends ago finishing fifth.
Moving to the Nor Cal Mini Stocks, Stockton’s own Lelani Sprenkel sits atop the standings after two races. She enters this event after a fourth-place finish at All American Speedway on May 10.
Sprenkel is followed by two other Stockton drivers, the No. 61 of Barret Sugden of and Natalie Harper who wheels the No. 5H. Both find themselves within 10 points of Sprenkel for first place.
As for the Pure Stocks, Valley Springs native Donnie Darter maintained his 2025 dominance. Darter has been racing at Stockton since the 1990s and continues to pick up main event wins.
In the May 10 feature, Darter defeated Stockton drivers Mason Beghtel and Jeremy Tucker. During the 20-lap race, Darter drove to a five second lead over the pack, cruising to the trophy.
Also, the Fast Kar Solutions Mini Modified drivers make their second straight stop in Stockton. Last weekend, Easton driver Kyle Labrie got the upper hand on the Coonfield brothers.
This came after leader Patrick Geiger of Clovis wrecked due to fluid on the backstretch. Labrie was scored as the leader and held Adam Coonfield and Aaron Coonfield at bay in the final laps.
