Under-12 Eagles soar past Quakes

The boys under-12 Eagles of the Manteca Area Soccer League defeated the Earthquakes last Saturday, 6-2.

Matthew Dunham had a hat-trick plus one and Joshua Valdez scored twice for the Eagles. Both had first-half scores.

Goalie Jose Cabrera had eight first-half saves while Michael Arriola closed out with four stops.

Marc Soto was also among the standouts. He not only made several headers but aggressively defended his territory. Ramon Rodriguez provided added pressure, refusing to allow the ball to get passed him.

Tied 2-2 at the half, the Eagles scored four goals in the second half. 

In addition, Michael Macias, Jesse Ortiz-Martinez, and Nolen Gavino kept the pressure on the Earthquakes while not backing down.



Arsenal 4, Revolution 4

Alex Mendez netted three goals for the Arsenal including the tying shot.

That tying goal came in the final four minutes of the game.

Miguel Chavez also had an Arsenal goal.



Under-12 girls

Galaxy 5, Earthquake 3


Bryanna Hall scored three goals and Alison Bingham, who also had an assist, chipped in with two goals in the Galaxy win.

Raylynn Ybarra played tough defense while registering numerous goalie saves.



Under-14 girls

Fury 3, Arsenal 0


The Fury withstood several challenges by the Arsenal, relying on their defense to preserve the victory.

Defender Georgia Arriola along with forwards Megan Harlan and Alina Coronado helped keep the Arsenal in check.

Katy Carter scored the first goal. Destiny Hernandez provided the two other scores.

Goalie Kareena Escartin came up with 11 saves and Jennifer Ibarra-Bejar also helped out by blocking a goal attempt.
