Giants rally for MLL title

The Giants scored all of their runs in the final two innings Thursday to come from behind and beat the A’s 3-2 for the Manteca Little League majors championship at Lincoln Park.

Landon Chamberlain (3 for 3) belted a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the fifth for the Giants to plate two runs and tied the game at 2-all. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs, Andrew Villa (2 for 3) tripled and scored the walk-off run on a passed ball.

Nate Dorn (3 for 3) and Eli Terpsma pitched for the Giants and struck out 11, allowing three hits. 

Seth Van Dyk (2 for 3) and Tyler Paul Wentworth (1 for 3) each doubled and scored a run for the A’s. Zach Johnson singled in Van Dyk in the first inning.

Wentworth and Johnson combined to throw nine strikeouts.

 

Minors

Marlins 7, A’s 4

Scoreless until the fifth inning the Marlins put up five runs in the fifth to help force a winner-take-all game tonight for the championship at 5:30 p.m.

Cole Martin (double, run, walk) and Isaiah Alococer were both 2 for 3 for the Marlins. Aiden Both (1 for 1, two walks), Daniel Alvarez (1 for 2, walk) and Mateo Ceja (1 for 3) scored a run apiece for the Marlins.

Eliseo Vervantez and Isaac Acuna combined to throw nine strikeouts for the Marlins.

Dylan Stonum (run), Jace Quitasol (run), Matthew Escarega (double, run) and Isaiah Lynch were all 2 for 3 for the A’s. Quitasol, Brandon Abernathy and Wesley Woodman shared the pitching duties for the A’s and struck out six.
