STOCKTON — Manteca scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull away from Spreckels Park for an 8-4 win in semifinal action of the Little League District 67 Juniors All Star Tournament at Paul Weston Park.

With two out and two on in the Manteca fifth, Kevin Thornburg came off the bench and drilled a double, plating Christian Tonna and River Weahunt for a 6-4 Manteca lead. In the sixth, Ryan Zimmermann led off the frame with a double for Manteca and came in to score on a triple by Briggs Alavezos (3 for 4, RBI, double, triple, two runs). Alavezos scored on a wild pitch for the game’s final run.

Alavezos would have had one more run but he was cut down trying to score from second on a two-out single in the first inning by Matt Dunham with a perfect throw from Spreckels Park’s Kenny Kuwada.

Tyler Garlets got Manteca on the board with a two-RBI single in the second, scoring A.J. Kovacs and Tonna and putting Manteca ahead 2-0. Alavezos and Matt Dunham (2 for 4, two runs) started the third with back-to-back infield singles and both worked their way around to score and bump the Manteca lead to 4-0.

Louis Aquila had the big hit of the four-run Spreckels Park fifth, belting a two-RBI double that scored Steven Eaves (4 for 4, RBI, run) and Jesse Ortiz-Martinez. Eaves singled in Dominic Rea (2 for 3, double, RBI) and Rea doubled in Jacob Martinez with Spreckels Park ending that frame in a 4-4 tie.

Spreckels Park plays either Tracy American or Northgate Saturday morning at 10 in the consolation semifinal with the winner advancing to the championship round against Manteca Sunday at 10 a.m.
