TWolves let one slip away to Atwater

ATWATER – Sierra had its opportunities to pick up its second win Wednesday in Atwater, but three Falcon unearned runs on two fielding errors in the second led to a 3-2 setback.


Sierra left two runners in scoring position in the sixth, and loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but couldn’t bring across the tying score.


Lukas Owens hit a two-run single in the fifth.


Andy Scott went 2 for 4 and Kenny Leasure was 3 for 4.


Luis Barraza got the start and lasted four.


Scottie DeBrower closed it out with Jordan Louie behind the dish.


Sierra (1-1) collected six hits, and finishing with the two errors.

Up 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Sierra couldn’t hold on for the win.


Adrian Valencia got the start and was strong through three.


Caleb Young tossed one scoreless inning, and Alex Arreola was 3 for 3 with a walk.


“We played well other than the seventh,” Sierra head coach Greg Wilson said.


Sierra (1-1) heads to Elk Grove next.
