A dramatic two-car collision that saw one vehicle slamm into the front of a home at 548 S. Sequoia Ave. drew many nearby residents out of their homes at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The 911 call that went out to firefighters, police and ambulance personnel reported that a car had crashed into a home and a motorist was trapped inside a vehicle. While one driver was delayed in exiting his car, emergency personnel found he was not trapped.
Police said the collision occurred when Martin Reichmuth, 79, of Manteca was eastbound crossing Sequoia and was in the path of Michael W. Kuesthardt, 21, of Ripon who was driving in a 1990 red Mustang driving northbound. The Ripon driver told police he had just purchased the vehicle.
The force of the broadside impact pushed the Lincoln around and into the home, police said. Neither driver complained of pain at the crash scene where three fire engines and three ambulances responded having heard the house was involved in the preliminary call for help.
One of the vertical pillars that supports the front of the roof was dislodged, but the structure remained intact.
