East Union High’s Musical Theatre class will be performing ‘Working’ and ‘Next to Normal’ on Thursday at the Weston Ranch High Performing Arts Building.
Problems with the Black Box Theater on the EU campus were reasons for the change of venue, according to instructor Annette Taser.
“We have to do our shows in another facility since our theater is not able to accommodate the public,” she said.
The Musical Theatre class is pilot program of Manteca Unified. It is taught by composer / musician Gary Fritzen and Taser.
‘Working’ and ‘Next to Normal’ are musicals that depicts life as it is – the showcase begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Weston Ranch High box office on the day of the show.
The two musicals are described as “an era when the lines between truth and fiction are dangerously blurred, being able to look reality square in the face seems a relief.”
‘Working’ is about average working folks and their everyday lives while ‘Next to Normal’ is about a mother who struggles with bipolar disorder while handling a family.
Weston Ranch High is located at 4606 McCuen Ave., Stockton.
