The Manteca Cooling Center extended operations through Friday.
This comes after more excessive heat warnings were issued Tuesday by the Emergency Email & Wireless Network and other weather services.
Located at the Manteca Transit Center, 220 Moffat Blvd. – entrance to the Community Room is through the lobby – the cooling center opened last Friday with a handful of people using the facility to beat the heat during these past few days.
Bottled water and bananas are available for those dropping in.
Hours of operation for the Manteca Cooling Center is 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. – closing time could be sooner, depending if people are there to utilize the facility, according to the Manteca Fire Department – in the spacious Community Room.
Masks will also be provided, if needed – those experiencing symptoms of cold or flu or exposed to COVID-19 will not be admitted.
In addition, those with knowledge of someone in need of shelter during this heat wave will be encouraged to relay information to the firefighter or reserve on duty at the cooling center.

In Lathrop, the Community Center at 15557 Fifth St. has served as the Cooling Center since Friday. However, the venue will switch over to the new Lathrop Police Department building at 940 River Island Parkway through the remainder of the week.
