There are few things in life better than a good donut.

And for a group of third through sixth grade students, this weekend will provide them the chance to take the delectable experience of eating a donut to the next level – making their own.

On Saturday, May 20, the Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the Donut Design and Décor class for 3rd through 6th graders – giving students the chance to design their own half-dozen donuts – at the Lathrop Generations Center.

For $30 students will get to enjoy table games and snacks while designing and decorating their own special donuts. Led by Parks and Recreation Department staffers, the class gives young people the chance to develop a new and unique skill while having fun in the process.

The class will take place at the Lathrop Generations Center – located at 450 Spartan Way across the street from Lathrop High School – on Saturday, May 20 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Additional classes – including Footwork and Grace: The Beginners Guide to Kuchipudi, an Indian dance form, and a Hawaiian dance class – will also take place this summer in addition to lots of other programs aimed at providing recreation and enrichment activities for Lathrop residents.

For more information or to register for the class, visit the Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department website at www.ci.lathrop.ca.us/parksrec or call 209.941.7372.
