The holidays are over and with it came packages of gift boxes along with other materials.
Ripon residents can take those items and any Styrofoam – now being accepted – to the Ripon Recycling Center on South Industrial Avenue.
The operation is a cooperative effort between the City of Ripon, the Ripon Unified School District, and American Recycling, with the recycling program benefitting students at Weston, Ripon El., Ripona, Park View and Colony Oak elementary schools.
The Ripon Recycling Center is open Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, and during the week – Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Staff members are on hand to direct and ensure that those entering the facilities practice the COVID-19 safety protocols and distancing requirements.
They’ll make sure the following rules are observed:
- Entrance is on the northern driveway.
- Folks are to remain in their cars until the time comes to unload recyclable materials (more on that).
- Residential loads only, no businesses or commercial sized truck or loads are allowed.
- Residents must unload all materials into the proper containers.
As far as the accepted items, the Ripon Recycling Center accepts cardboard (must be clean and free of trash), TVs and screens (must be loaded directly into the container), plastics, glass, mixed paper, newspaper, CRV (cans and plastic bottles), and Styrofoam.
