The Bulletin

Manteca Police are investigating the city’s fourth homicide of the year after a man who suffered stab wounds Thursday morning near the 200 block of N. Main Street succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

No information about the victim or the circumstances of the case have been released by Manteca Police since the investigation into the matter is ongoing. The identity of the victim will be released by the San Joaquin County Coroner once the proper notifications have been made, and currently there are no suspects in custody or being detained at this time.

Authorities and emergency services personnel responded to the scene just before noon after multiple 911 calls came into the Manteca Police dispatch center about a male victim that was laying on the ground, bleeding. When officers arrived, they discovered that the victim was suffering from stab wounds, and he was transported to an area hospital.

Additional information may be released “once it is determined those details can be released without jeopardizing the integrity of the investigation.”

Thursday’s homicide is Manteca’s third in the last month after a 19-year-old was gunned down at Southside Park and an argument on a jobsite at a vacant home the following week led to a 57-year-old pulling out a gun and firing a single shot, killing the other man. There have been no arrests made in the Southside Park shooting, and detectives ultimately arrested Ted Dehoop Jr. several hours after he voluntarily went down to the Manteca Police Department for questioning after calling dispatch and reporting the shooting.
