Chelsie Encinas, 24, was killed in a freeway commute traffic collision Friday afternoon as she was driving eastbound on Interstate 580 just west of North Flynn Road, according to the Dublin CHP office.

CHP spokesman public information officer Steve Creel said Wednesday morning that the three vehicle fatal crash occurred about 5:35 p.m. as the Manteca woman was driving eastbound toward Manteca.

He said that a 41-year-old Tracy woman was pulling out into traffic from the shoulder of the road driving a Nissan Titan,  cutting off Encinas in her 2005 Nissan Altima.  The officer said the collision report indicated that Encinas swerved to the left into the number two lane of the freeway to miss the Nissan and was struck broadside at the driver’s door by a Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling an estimated 60 to 65 miles per hour.

The Manteca driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, according to the CHP.

Two occupants in the pickup were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with moderate to minor injuries, the CHP officer said.  Eastbound traffic was blocked for some three hours while officers continued their investigation.
