• RESISTING ARREST: On July 14, Manteca Police Detective Johnson and Sergeant Beall from the Gang Suppression Unit were in the area of the Rose Motel, 300 block of Moffat Boulevard, when their attention was drawn to a subject who was displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was identified as Niles Breland. As Officers attempted to contact Breland, he fled through the Rose Motel complex. Officers chased and apprehended Breland. Once apprehended, Breland continued to resist and additional Police units were called. Breland later admitted to using methamphetamine and apologized for the incident. He was booked for Resisting Arrest, Being Under a Controlled Substance and later transported to San Joaquin County Jail.

• KIDNAPPING/ROBBERY: On July 14, Officers were advised by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office of a male victim who had approached a residence in the 30000 block of Kasson Road. The victim was dressed only in boxer shorts and reported he had been kidnapped in Manteca. After being kidnapped, he was driven to an orchard, robbed of his money and clothes and tied to a tree. The victim escaped only after the suspects left the area. The victim said he was originally approached in Manteca by two white males in a baby blue 90s-model Ford extended cab pickup. One of the males asked him for a lighter, when the passenger grabbed him and told him to get in the truck. Case follow-up is continuing.

• CHOP SHOP: On July 17, Detective Schluer from the Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force requested assistance with a chop shop in the 100 block of Goodale Avenue. Tyler Kirwan and Randy Smith were discovered stripping a stolen Honda in the driveway. Both were subsequently arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, dismantling a vehicle for profit and auto theft.

• VEHICLE PURSUIT: On July 17, Officer Osborn attempted to stop a green Lexus for a vehicle code violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield. He drove northbound on South Main Street from Moffat Boulevard and eventually pulled over in the 700 block of Garden Gate Drive. There were four occupants in the vehicle. All were detained following a high-risk traffic stop. The driver, Cristobal Garcia, was arrested for driving under the influence, and two of passengers were arrested for public intoxication. The fourth passenger was released.
