MJC event celebrates Cesar Chavez

MODESTO -  The M.E.Ch.A Club of Modesto Junior College will be celebrating Cesar Chavez on Wednesday, April 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the East Campus Quad, located at 435 College Avenue in Modesto.  M.E.Ch.A invites the campus and community to join in this celebration honoring the legacy of Chavez, activist and founder of the United Farm Workers Union (UFW).
 
The Cesar Chavez Celebration will include music from D.J. Invisible (Manuel Mejia), a Mariachi Band, and the Baile Folklorico Dancers.  The Latina Leadership Network will offer a lunch of carne asada, rice, beans and salsa for the price of $5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Vendors will offer authentic arts, crafts, jewelry and other items for sale.
 
The event is being sponsored by the M.E.Ch.A Club of MJC, Associated Students of MJC, City of Modesto Parks Recreation and Neighborhoods Department, Latina Leadership Network and Latino Community Roundtable.  Parking may be obtained by purchasing a $1 parking permit from any parking permit boxes located in campus parking lots.
