Manteca Police traffic officers are planning a motorcycle safety fair on Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m. until 2 in the afternoon at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley parking lot on Highway 120.

Officer Patrick Danipour said there is a need to present safety training for the members of the public who are now riding motorcycles to commute to work in an effort to save gas money.

Motorcycle officers are going to set up cone patterns and demonstrate safe riding procedures during the event.  Vendors are also expected to be on hand displaying their wares including, Harley Davidson,  Malotts Honda Yamaha, Delta Power Sports, Cycle Gear of Modesto and Sacramento – a major supplier of motorcycle safety equipment.

Cadets from the Manteca Police Explorers will be on hand to sell hot dogs, soda and water.

Officer Danipour suggests that anyone interested in learning more about motorcycle safety to key up the Motorcycle Safety Foundation on the Internet.  He added that while the novelty crash helmets may look nice, they are not meant to protect the riders.
