BASEBALL: Ripon’s Weber pitches no-hit shutout against Orestimba

Hunter Weber delivered a five-inning no-hitter for Ripon in an 11-0 shutout of Orestimba at Mistlin Sports Park.

The senior ace registered nine strikeouts against three walks and one hit batter in the Trans Valley League tilt.

The Indians (4-3, 12-9 overall) gave him more than enough breathing room, scoring in every inning including five runs in the second.

Michael Faria added a 2-for-2 effort that included a run and two RBIs. Brayden McDowell (two runs, two steals, two RBIs), Jake Haines (run, RBI) and Jack Peters (run, two RBIs) all went 2 for 3.

Orestimba (2-5, 8-12) will look to salvage a series split Friday at home.

Ripon Christian 7, Linden 1

A four-run second inning and combined three-hitter were the difference for the Knights (19-2) in the non-league home game.

Sophomore Ethan Vander Plaats surrendered no runs, two hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings. Jackson Howell closed it out, facing seven batters in the seventh.

Stadtler Postma led the attack, going 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Noah De Bruyn, Jack De Jong, Talen Tameling, Tyler Wadlow and Howell each drove in a run.

Nikko Vigna knocked in Marco Holguin for the Linden (10-10) run in the first.

Ripon Christian faces Holt Academy tonight at Billy Hebert Stadium for another non-league tussle.

Manteca 10, Mountain House 3

Starter Jeremy Cross pitched five scoreless innings, and the Buffaloes (10-4, 17-7 overall) coasted to the Valley Oak League win.

The junior fired nine strikeouts while scattering just two hits. Carter Hetrick (two strikeouts) and Cameron Jimenez (three runs, walk, two strikeouts) each threw an inning in the combined three-hitter.

Brennen Vega highlighted the attack with a triple and four RBIs, finishing 3 for 4. Brody Carabello went 2 for 3 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs. Nate Slikker added a double and two RBIs, while going 2 for 5.

Callahan Healy clubbed a three-run homer in the sixth inning for Mountain House (3-10, 11-12), finishing 3 for 3 with a double.

Manteca goes for the three-game sweep Friday at home.
