Ethan Freitas of Manteca and Sierra’s Jorrden Llamas Mojarro ended in a second-place tie with 77s during the fourth Valley Oak League Tournament of the season Wednesday at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Estuardo Duque finished 3-under-par 69, helping Oakdale maintain its lead atop the overall team standings. For the day, five Mustangs placing in the top eight individually combined for a 398.
Manteca was the runner-up at 435 and followed by Central Catholic (443), Sierra (450), East Union (451), Mountain House (479) and Patterson (537).
Michael Pires paced East Union with a 79 and finished fourth.
Cooper Chamberlain supported Manteca’s second-place finish with an 87. The Buffaloes also had solid rounds from Van Hendrix (89), Logan Yagi (90) and Gael Juarez (92).
Sierra’s Jace Neto netted an 89 and was backed by Kevin Casillas (92), Aiden Cotter (96) and Evan Hayne (96).
East Union’s Tiago Chadinha tied Chamberlain for 11th place with an 87. Cody Camarena added a 90 for the Lancers, with Matthew Neves (95) and Chase Kalin (100) capping their score.
The next league tournament is on April 23 at La Contenta Golf Course.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
East Union 3, Patterson 0
The Lancers (5-6 VOL, 9-14 overall) eked out a 26-24 first-set win before rolling past Patterson (4-6, 12-13) in the next two 25-13, 25-19 at Dalben Center.
Setter Isaac Serrato led them with 29 assists, eight service points, three digs and two solo blocks.
Outside hitter Jacob Padilla added 11 kills, four digs and two blocks. Defensive specialist Cristiano Barajas picked up nine digs and served five points.
East Union heads across town to wrap up its regular season next Wednesday, April 22 at Sierra.
Lathrop 3, Pacheco 0
Gabriel Fa’ali’i had his way from the service line and nearly had a triple-double in the 25-8, 25-7, 25-16 sweep for Lathrop (7-4 Western Athletic Conference, 20-6 overall).
The senior outside hitter amassed nine aces to go with eight kills and seven digs. Lorenzo Palomares chipped in five kills and three digs. Gurmukh Singh tallied four kills and three aces.
Jorge Reyes racked up 19 assists, two kills, two aces and two digs. Mario Luna contributed four assists.
BOYS TENNIS
Sierra 9, Patterson 0
The Timberwolves (8-4 VOL, 9-7 overall) ended the regular season with the lopsided win at home. The two-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV champion finish league in third place and will get a chance to defend their postseason final starting May 5.
Against Patterson, Harshith Kumar took care of Kellan Burke 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Ryan Alves (6-1, 6-4), Himmat Dosanjh (6-2, 6-0), Noah Brum (7-5, 6-0), Zainn Ali (6-1, 6-3) and Arnav Sah (6-0, 6-1) also swept their singles matches.
Sierra was even more dominant in doubles play. At No. 1, Reynansh Bansode and Raunak Mahar blanked Emilio Rodriguez and Cody Shimizu, 6-0, 6-0. Johan Arroyo and Ashvin Gill won the No. 2 match, 6-0, 6-1. Patterson forfeited the No. 3 match.
Sierra hosts the VOL singles and doubles tournaments next week.
JV boys volleyball

The Lancers came up short 15-25, 12-25.
Marco Chidinha ended up with three kills and two blocks. Kalieo Alvaro dished out six assists.
Lathrop 2, Pacheco 1
Steven Pughsley pounded 10 kills to spearheaded the Spartans’ 25-16, 25-27, 15-10 win.
David McNair added six kills to the attack. Joseph Siu pitched in two kills and two aces to go with five digs. Leonardo Quezada handed out 10 assists. Hanz Castaneras chipped in four assists, two aces and six digs.
