Ripon High students can enjoy the final weeks of the summer.

The first sign of the 2013-14 school year will be the opening of the RHS Counseling Center on Thursday, Aug. 1. From 8 to 11:30 a.m., students who are new to the district can pre-register for classes during this time.

The regular registration session otherwise known as the “Ripon Pow Wow” is scheduled on Aug. 6-7.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, seniors and juniors, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will have a chance to complete the registration process and pick up their ID card, pay fees and get their fall class schedule.

Sophomores and freshmen can do likewise from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Furthermore, they can do it alone since it’s not mandatory for a parent or guardian to attend the “Pow Wow.” All students are required have the proper paperwork signed by a parent or guardian and provide the funds to cover their purchases prior to picking up their class schedule.

Early registration on both days is 9 to 10:30 a.m. for all grade levels.

All “Pow Wow” information was mailed earlier this month.

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 14.

But for freshmen, they’re expected to gather in the North Gym on Tuesday, Aug. 13, to take part in the orientation session hosted by Link Crew, a peer mentoring program consisting of upperclassmen helping ninth graders make that transition into high school.

This freshmen orientation will consist of ice-breaking games and other activities as conducted by Link Crew leaders.
