Lauren Van Till and Teresa Martinez have been selected the Ripon Soroptimist Girls of the Month for the month of January.

Van Till was nominated from the class of Anatomy and Physiology at Ripon Christian High School, where she is involved in several activities.

A three-year member of the girls golf program, Van Till has also played one season of soccer. The senior is a member of the Knightsounds Select Mixed Group and has sung the national anthem at Sacramento Kings and Oakland A’s games.

Her list of achievements also includes: mock trial as a defense attorney; Logos Forensics Association Team Policy debater; student leadership; honor roll all four years; and a three-time recipient of the Distinguished Achievement in World Masters Challenge award.

Ripon High’s Martinez was recognized in the Foreign Language class.

Like Van Till, Martinez is a familiar face around campus.

She is active in student leadership, having held the offices of president, secretary and coordinator. She’s also a member of the following clubs and organizations: Renaissance, Block R, Link Crew, Girls’ League, Pride Tribe, Taste Bud Food Club and Sacred Heart Club.

Martinez has also volunteered at Color the Skies, the City of Ripon’s annual fall celebration. She hopes to work as a teacher or social worker.

Van Till aspires to study Pediatric Endocrinology at a university.
