Mrs. Barbara Corey, age 78 passed away peacefully on September 22, 2012.  She was born on June 22, 1934 in San Francisco, CA.  She lived in Oakdale with her husband Donald R. Corey to whom she had been married for 59 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She enjoyed writing poetry and visiting with her family.  When younger she was an active member in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Manteca where she participated in women’s circle and bible studies.  She also played an active role in researching and designing the Biblical Garden at St. Paul’s Church.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Phyllis Flygare of Ripon and Royal Max Hansen. She is survived by her husband Donald R. Corey of Oakdale and her children,  Donna Weaver (Jeff) of Ripon, Michael Corey (Karen) of Escalon, Teri Pouncey of Oakdale, and Judy Corey of Riverside.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jackson Weaver, Josh Weaver (Tonia), Samantha Schaffer (Ray), James Corey, Corey Casas, Luke Pouncey, Aaron Holmes, Elizabeth Holmes,  nine great grand children, and beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and family members and friends. 

A celebration of life and faith of Barbara Corey will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Deegan Memorial Chapel in Ripon, CA.  The family deeply appreciates the care given by Hy-Lond Convalescent in her last few months.  Memorial gifts can be made to Mary Graham Hall.  Barbara will dearly be missed and live in our hearts forever.
