Services will be Tuesday for Southern Pacific retiree Clayton “Cotton” Riggins, 72. The longtime Tracy resident died early this week at his home.

An Oklahoma native, Mr. Riggins was born Feb, 28, 1937, and lived in Tracy more than 60 years. He attended West Park Elementary School and graduated from Tracy High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan before going to work for Southern Pacific as a brakeman and conductor for 33 years.

He was a member of the Mount Oso Masonic Lodge, the Stockton Scottish Rite and the Sinkers Fishing Club. A sports fan, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s games.

Mr. Riggins is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Rallios, and her husband, Richard, of Lathrop; siblings, Raymond Riggins of Sunnyvale and Alverna Cardoza of Dublin; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Riggins; and brother, Donald Riggins.

Tuesday’s service will begin at 10 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road. A reception at Mount Oso Masonic Lodge, 1601 N. Tracy Blvd., will follow. An online guestbook will be available at www.frymemorialchapel.com.
