Harvey R. Smith, age 85, entered into rest on August 16, 2012 in Manteca. He was born on January 27, 1927 in Lathrop to the late Harvey Sr. and Agnes Smith. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joetta Smith and his siblings, Carol Smith, Margaret Smith, Albert Smith, Helen Mattes, Florence Wolfe and Wilbur Smith.

Harvey is survived by his children, David Smith and wife Karen of Manteca, Christopher D. Smith of Layton, Utah, and Barbara Rocha and husband, Joseph of Turlock. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Adam Rocha, Justin Smith, Tracee Franks, and Jameson Smith; and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Frances Allen of Manteca, Lillian Diamante of Paradise, Elizabeth Kooy of Fremont and Lloyd Smith of Reno.

Harvey was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II and the Korean War, earning military citations - Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, UN Service Medal/Army Occupation Medal/Japan/Korean Service,

Battery A 99th Fabn Apo201- 1st Calvary. He was a graduate of Modesto Junior College.

Harvey loved his children and was involved with local groups such as being a 32nd degree Mason, and the part of Odd Fellows, working hard to take care of his family. He was a bus driver for the Manteca Unified School District. He enjoyed going shopping. Harvey was a native to the area. He loved gardening, growing almonds and boysenberries. Mr. Smith was a member of The First Baptist Church and Calvary Community Church, He loved serving the Lord.

Services for Harvey Smith have been entrusted to PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2012 11am to

12 noon with a Chapel Service to follow at 12 noon. Final resting place will be East Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Calvary Community Church, 815 W.
