Jose Custodio Almada, husband, father, grandpa, uncle, godfather and friend. Born on January 29, 1938 in Rosaia, Island of Sao Jorge. Married to Diocleciana dos Reis for 48 years. Immigrated to Angola in 1967 for ten years. In 1976, came to California for the second time and created a life in Manteca. Jose worked for Frank Borges Dairy for 30 years. He was a member of the FESM Hall and St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Manteca.
After battling cancer for seven years, he entered into a peaceful and pain-free rest with his family by his side on May 27, 2012 at Kaiser Hospital in Manteca.
He is survived by his wife, Diocleciana dos Reis, son Tony Almada of Manteca, and Olga Almada Hurtado of Stockton, grandchildren Cameron and Marissa Almada, Jesse, Felipe and Gabriel Hurtado; brothers Manuel, Dimas, Rogerio Custodio. He was godfather to Clara Souza, Maria Jose Parsons, and Elizabeth Gray. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father and mother, Manuel and Serafina Custodio; his sisters Honoria Marcelino and Victoria Medieros; and his godson, Izaias Marcelino.
PL Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Almada family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 1pm to 7pm at PL Fry & Son, 290 N.Union Road, Manteca, followed by a Rosary at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, June 1, 10:30am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca, with burial to follow at St. John'sCatholic Cemetery, 17871 S.
