Lou George, 70, aka the “can man,” was called to heaven, while surrounded by his family on May 19th, 2012.  A funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, June 21st at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street in Manteca.  A reception will immediately follow at the Del Webb Woodbridge Clubhouse, 1401 Morning Brook Dr. in Manteca as well.

Lou is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy, his daughter, Sandy Martin, and her husband, Jim, his son, Louis George III, and his wife, Brenda, and his daughter, Tracey Gomez, and her husband Darren.  He was also blessed with seven amazing grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His family was the most important part of his life, and he never went a day without saying he loved them.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as his friends from the Woodbridge community.  He was always the life of the party, and loved to dance, cook, play craps, pool, and support his favorite football team, the 49ers.  Lou will also be
remembered by his jovial appearance on “The Price is Right” in 2009.

Lou was the Tracy Relay for Life Survivor of the Year in 2007, and was passionate about recycling bottles and cans, raising more than $21,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society.

He always had a positive attitude and believed in living every day to its fullest.  He was a very hard working, caring, loving man who was well liked by everyone he met and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to support research into Wegener’s Disease be made to:  UCSF Foundation, P.O. Box 45339, San Francisco, CA  94145-0339.  Please write “Rosalind Russell Arthritis Center – for Vasculitis Research” on memo line, with a note that it is in memory of Lou George.
