Rita Eva Esteves Baldwin, lifelong resident of the Manteca/Ripon area, died after a lengthy illness at the age of 84. Born in Ripon to Manuel and Maria Esteves, she attended schools in Ripon and worked in retail. One of nine children, siblings include Mary Costa (deceased) Manuel Esteves Jr (deceased) Jess Esteves (deceased)  Annabel Huarte (deceased) Frank Esteves, Josephine Schneider, Delores Esteves and Dorothy Littlefield.

Survived by daughter Linda Taberna of Manteca, daughter-in-law Roxy Baldwin of Modesto,  and daughter Kathleen Cunningham (Jim) of Shasta Lake. Grandchildren, Rick Taberna, Tony Taberna (Gina), Cody Baldwin and Lacie Baldwin. Great-grandchildren Christian Baldwin, Noah Baldwin, Branae Taberna, Bailey Taberna, Hunter Taberna and Dalton Taberna, godchild Patricia Huarte Pechan and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son Larry Baldwin and grandson Robbie Taberna. We will be forever grateful for the help her brother Frank provided during her illness.

Rita enjoyed working word and crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Ms. Baldwin’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., both held at P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery 17871 S. Carrolton Rd. Escalon.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to “The Robbie Taberna FFA Memorial Scholarships” at Delta National Bank.
