Robert Miller Pinol, 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in Manteca. He was born on June 15, 1928 in New London, Connecticut to the late Francisco and Lydia Winnetta (Miller) Pinol. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Pinol; sons, Bruce Pinol and wife Terry of Bay Point, William S. Pinol of Escalon; grandchildren, Christina Lewis, Ambra J. Junqueiro, Sheilah Pacheco, Chrystal Pinol, Zachary Pinol, and Benjamin Pinol and 4 great-grandchildren.
He enlisted in the Air Force (1949-1952). He then headed to Stockton where he finished his AA degree at Delta College.
He married the love of his life, Betty Jane Koster in 1954. He joined the Army in 1954 and separated in 1961. He spent time as a officer at DVI while attending CSU for a degree in Social Sciences. He worked as a probation officer for San Joaquin County until 1984.
Bob was involved in many community activities. He acted as a Scout Master, joined the Manteca Police reserve, a Marshal in the S.J. Superior Court, and a volunteer in STARS, and Senior Center. He was initiated into the Masonic order in 1958 and served in both San Joaquin Lodge and Tyrian Lodge in Manteca and Master in 1993. He acted as guide and transporter of children and guardians to the Shrine Hospital. He was a member of Scottish Rite, San Joaquin Shrine Club, Stockton Marching Patrol , and charter member of Ben Ali’s Legion of Honor.
Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Robert F. Pinol and John B. Pinol.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 910 E. North Street, Manteca. Remembrances can be made in Bob’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children Northern California, 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA. 95817-2215 or the St. Paul’s Memorial Fund, 910 E. North Street, Manteca, CA. 95336.
