Sid L. Reams, 63, entered into rest on May 20, 2009 in Sacramento, California. He was born on March 14, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Emily Reams in Billings Montana. He was a very proud resident of Manteca for over 25 years.
Mr. Reams is survived by his beloved wife Karen Reams and his children Daphne Taylor of Washington, Brenda Reams of Modesto, Nathan Reams of San Diego, and Jon Reams of Ripon. He was blessed by two granddaughters, Rebecca Weese and Cora Taylor both of Washington. His surviving siblings are Max Reams of Oregon and Sahoni English of Washington.
Sid loved living in Manteca. His motto was “Manteca, the best place to live and raise a family.” He was an active member of the Manteca community. Sid was involved in the real estate business, selling and buying homes for various companies throughout the Manteca area. Before entering into the real estate field, Sid worked for various auto dealerships, where he managed teams of people selling cars.
Several years ago, Sid received his calling to help the homeless. He was an advocate for the homeless in the Manteca area by helping supply food, shelter, and other endless needs. He held countless rallies for the homeless at the Manteca Library Park to get the message out to others that help was truly needed in the Manteca area.
Sid liked to share what he knew with others. He founded “The Manteca Magazine,” a local news show, which documented every major Manteca event including street fairs, telethons, and Memorial Day events. The Manteca Magazine was broadcast on the local access cable station. Sid was also a well-known guest columnist for the Manteca Bulletin, writing about special events, local issues, his life experiences and his family.
Sid played an active role in Toastmasters for over 38 years. He also loved taking road trips. He combined his “road tripping” adventures with photography, another of his passions. On weekly outings he travelled throughout the central valley searching for unique photo opportunities. Sid will be remembered as a funny, outgoing and generous man who was a great father, wonderful friend, and devoted husband. He will be missed.
