Virginia C. Berdeja, age 76, passed away on September 25th 2011 in Columbus, OH. A native of Colon, El Salvador; she made her way to San Francisco and met her loving husband of 49 years, Juan S. Berdeja. She spent the first part of her young life with many happy moments raising her young boys, living life to the fullest, hosting parties for her many friends and family. Always keeping family close in her heart, she provided much care and attention to her beloved mother Maria until her passing, and younger brother Abraham. After moving to Manteca, CA, her family continued to grow with the birth of her daughter. She was very active with her local parish of St. Anthony’s. Holidays were a special treat; she enjoyed preparing special meals and elaborate decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving and especially Christmas. Her nativity scenes were well known by family and friends. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother; she never grew tired of giving. Yearning for more adventure, Virginia and Juan retired to Phoenix, AZ, and also found time to live in Columbus, OH. Here, they lovingly enjoyed their grandchildren during visits to abuelita’s house.

Virginia was preceded in death byher infant sons, her beloved mother Maria, her nephew Eduardo, and eldest brother Manuel. She is survived by husband Juan Berdeja; brother Abraham Cornejo, San Francisco, CA; son Martin Berdeja (Nancy) Stockton, CA; son Marcel Berdeja, Phoenix, AZ; daughter Maryzabel Rippey (Tom), Columbus, OH; and special grandchildren Sierra, Marisol, James and Dominic. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19399 E. Hwy 120, Ripon, CA, Friday October 7th @ 1pm, committal at St. John’s Cemetery. Contact: (209) 464-5120.
