LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis had 22 points and 16 rebounds, and the No. 2 Wildcats overcame a slow start with a big run that put away Arkansas-Little Rock 73-51 on Tuesday night at Freedom Hall.
Darius Miller’s 3-pointer with 11:03 left put the Wildcats up 45-35 and made him the 58th Kentucky player to score 1,000 points. Kentucky used a 23-1 run to storm past the undermanned Trojans.
Kentucky (14-1) played for the first time since beating then-No. 4 Louisville on Dec. 31 and moving up one spot behind top-ranked Syracuse.
Chuck Guy scored 19 points for UALR (5-11).
Kentucky trailed 34-31, after Guy made two free throws with 16:11 left, before the Wildcats took control.
NO. 6 OHIO ST. 71, NEBRASKA 40
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Jared Sullinger had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Ohio State shook off its most recent loss with a victory over Nebraska.
The Buckeyes (14-2, 2-1 Big Ten) had little difficulty in their first game since a painful 74-70 defeat at No. 13 Indiana on Saturday.
Deshaun Thomas added 15 points and William Buford had 13 for the Buckeyes, who won their 35th consecutive home game.
Toney McCray had 13 points and Bo Spencer 10 for Nebraska (8-6, 0-3), which was playing its first Big Ten road game.
NO. 7 MISSOURI 87, OKLAHOMA 49
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Kim English had 23 points and nine rebounds, and Missouri hit 12 3-pointers to open Big 12 play with a rout of Oklahoma.
Marcus Denmon added 20 points for the Tigers (14-0, 1-0), who were 12 for 21 from 3-point range, held the Sooners to 33 percent shooting and outrebounded them 38-23.
The margin of victory was Missouri’s best in conference play, topping a 31-point spread against Iowa State in 2010. The Tigers beat Texas Tech by 33 points in the Big 12 tournament in 2000.
Andrew Fitzgerald scored all but two of his 18 points in the first half for Oklahoma (10-3).
SETON HALL 75, NO. 8 CONNECTICUT 63
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Jordan Theodore scored all 19 of his points in the second half and Seton Hall ended almost 11 years of frustration by stunning Connecticut in coach Kevin Willard’s biggest win since taking over the program last season.
Herb Pope added 15 points, and Fuquan Edwin and Aaron Cosby had 12 apiece as the Pirates (13-2, 2-1 Big East) beat Connecticut (12-2, 2-1) for the first time since March 3, 2001 — a span of 11 games. The win also snapped the Huskies’ current seven-game overall winning streak.
Jeremy Lamb had 19 points for Connecticut, which was playing its final game without coach Jim Calhoun, who is serving a three-game NCAA suspension.
NO. 10 MICHIGAN STATE 63, NO. 18 WISCONSIN 60, OT
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Ryan Evans had an apparent game-tying 3-pointer overturned on an officials’ replay review, allowing Michigan State to hold on against Wisconsin in overtime.
Draymond Green had 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Keith Appling added 16 points for the Spartans (14-2, 3-0 Big Ten), who have won 14 straight.
Jordan Taylor scored 28 points for the Badgers (12-4, 1-2).
Evans’ apparent game-tying 3 was overturned after officials ruled he didn’t get the shot off before time expired.
It was only the Badgers’ 14th loss, and eighth conference loss, at home under Bo Ryan.
NO. 11 LOUISVILLE 73, ST. JOHN’S 58
NEW YORK (AP) — Russ Smith scored 17 points and Louisville snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory over St. John’s at Madison Square Garden.
Kyle Kuric added 15 points and Gorgui Dieng had 12 for the Cardinals (13-2, 1-1 Big East), who lost to Georgetown and Kentucky last week to drop from fourth to No. 11 in the Top 25.
D’Angelo Harrison had 24 points for St. John’s (7-7, 1-2) and fellow freshman Moe Harkless scored 12.
The Red Storm missed 25 of 26 shots at one point in the first half and were 5 of 35 (14.3 percent) in falling behind 29-18. They finished 18 of 64 for the game (28.1 percent).
NO. 13 FLORIDA 79, UAB 61
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Erving Walker scored 23 points, Kenny Boynton added 20 and Florida beat UAB 79-61 in the Gators’ final tuneup before beginning Southeastern Conference play.
Patric Young chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds for the Gators (12-3), who won their 14th consecutive home game.
Cameron Moore led the Blazers (5-8) with 15 points. Ovie Soko had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Florida trailed midway through the first half was much more aggressive in the second half. The biggest difference, though, was the 3-point line. Florida made 15 of 27 from behind the arc.
Florida hit four 3s in a 3-minute span early in the second to push its lead to 21 points.
FORDHAM 60, NO. 22 HARVARD 54
NEW YORK (AP) — Bryan Smith scored 22 points, and Chris Gaston added 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Fordham over Harvard.
The win was the first for Fordham (7-6) over a ranked team since a 68-67 win over then-No. 24 St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 9, 2000.
The Rams shot 48.8 percent from the field and gave Harvard fits with their man-to-man defense. The Crimson shot only 36.4 percent from the field and committed 15 turnovers — which led to 14 points for Fordham.
Bryan Curry led the Crimson (12-2) with 15 points.
