KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Ariel Massengale scored a season-high 19 points and No. 6 Tennessee cruised to a 90-47 win against Chattanooga on Tuesday night.
Massengale made all six of her shots, four from 3-point range, and Glory Johnson had 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Lady Vols (10-3).
Massengale hit a 3-pointer with 16:11 left in the first half to kick off a 30-0 run. The Lady Mocs went without a basket for 12 minutes and never recovered.
Tennessee led 50-16 at halftime and eventually pushed the margin to 46 points.
Kamiko Williams came in for Tennessee during the run, marking her first appearance since surgery on July 22 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee
Faith Dupree, who signed with Tennessee but transferred after sitting out her freshman season because of back problems, led Chattanooga (8-4) with 17 points.
NO. 10 RUTGERS 55, SYRACUSE 44
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — April Sykes scored 14 points and Khadijah Rushdan added 13 to help Rutgers beat Syracuse.
The Scarlet Knights (12-2, 1-0 Big East) returned to the top 10 this week for the first time in three years. They were No. 3 on Nov. 17, 2008.
With the game tied at 36 midway through the second half, Sykes and Rushdan took over, scoring all the points during an 11-1 run to make it 46-37 with just over 6 minutes left.
Syracuse (11-5, 0-2) could only get within six the rest of the way.
Iasia Hemingway scored 14 points to lead the Orange.
NO. 14 LOUISVILLE 70, MARQUETTE 53
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Shoni Schimmel scored 17 points and Bria Smith had 14 of her 16 in the second half to lead Louisville over Marquette.
Becky Burke added 13 points and Cierra Warren 10 for Louisville (13-2, 2-0 Big East), which went on a 16-6 run over the final 5:29 to win its sixth straight since a Dec. 4 loss to Kentucky.
Sarina Simmons, who returned from a first-half collision with Louisville’s Asia Taylor, scored 17 points to lead the Golden Eagles (9-6, 0-2).
Katherine Plouffe, Marquette’s leading scorer coming in, was held to two points on 1-of-4 shooting.
NO. 20 DEPAUL 59, NO. 15 GEORGETOWN 50
WASHINGTON (AP) — Brittany Hrynko scored 17 points and Anna Martin had five points in the final 2 minutes as DePaul beat Georgetown.
Jasmine Penny had 13 points as the Blue Demons (14-2, 2-0 Big East) won their sixth straight. Katherine Harry had 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Martin finished with 11 points.
Sugar Rogers had 28 points, seven rebounds and six steals for Georgetown (12-3, 1-1), which snapped its 11-game winning streak. Tia Magee had 11 points and seven rebounds.
With the score tied at 37, Penny’s basket started a 10-2 run that gave DePaul a 47-39 lead. Rogers scored seven straight points for the Hoyas, but DePaul sealed it with a 12-4 run.
