Pacific survives scare from Alaska-Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Eric Thompson scored 20 points and Pacific survived a scare from Division II Alaska-Anchorage, winning 71-62, to advance in the Great Alaska Shootout on Wednesday.

Pacific (3-2) trailed by one with 7:07 left, but Thompson broke free for a dunk and after four T.J. Wallace free throws David Taylor nailed a 3-pointer to give the Tigers an 8-point lead with 4:57 left.

The largest lead of the first half was five with 1:35 left after T.J. Wallace and Ray Bowles hit jumpers and Sami Eleraky hit 1 of 2 free throws for Pacific. Boomer Blossom responded with a 3-pointer and Travis Parish made 1 of 2 free throws with 4 seconds left and Alaska-Anchorage trailed 28-27 at the half.

Wallace had 16 points and nine boards for Pacific. Taylor had 12 points and Bowles added 10.

Travis Thompson led Alaska-Anchorage with 17 points.
