ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Crystallynn Tran, Ripon swimming

 The Indians junior posted three first-place finishes and one second on Saturday to help lead the Ripon girls to a third-place finish in the Ervin Zador Memorial Invite at the Ervin Zador Aquatic Center.

“Crystallynn is a very dedicated, hard-working, and coachable athlete,” Indians coach Erik Zador said. “She values her sport but most of all she values her teammates.”

Tran finished first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 1.19 seconds, was second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.74) teamed up with Reyna Biedermann, Tori Rich and Madeline Staley to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.57) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:58.55).

“I thought Saturday was pretty good,” Tran said. “I enjoyed my time there with my friends.

“I did pretty well in my events and our relays were pretty good too.”
