Manteca High pitcher Selena Gonzalez twirled a perfect game as the Buffaloes pounded the Lathrop Spartans 17-0 in Valley Oak League action Wednesday.

Manteca (8-7 VOL, 11-10 overall) got a terrific effort from the freshman Gonzalez, who did not surrender a hit or walk in five innings of dominance. Gonzalez got all the offensive support she would need when senior Chellsee Lee connected on a homerun to push Manteca up for good.

Gonzalez was also impressive at the plate, going 3 for 4 in the win, as did teammate Melissa Bond. Chandler Rose finished the blowout 3 for 3 and came around to score three times, while Dallas Mould was 2 for 3 with an RBI triple.

Alex Tillis came on and made her presence felt with a two RBI single in her one at bat.

“Just about everybody did well in the game,” Manteca head coach Todd Hardcastle said. “It was a good way for our seniors to go out and a good way for me to finish my last season.”

Manteca closed out the season with 19 hits against Lathrop.

Central Valley 15, Weston Ranch 3
WESTON RANCH – The Cougars’ slide continued as Central Valley scored six in the first and four in the second to put things away early Wednesday on the Cougars’ diamond.

Raileen Romo led the Cougars (4-11, 8-17) with a 2 for 3 effort, connecting on a double and a single to pace Weston Ranch. The Cougars will try and close out the VOL season on a high note when they travel to Manteca to take on Sierra High at 4 p.m.
