East Union finished off its Valley Oak League season with a convincing 10-1 win over the Lathrop Spartans Thursday, securing a .500 mark in league play.

The Lancers (7-7, 14-11 overall) got five shutout innings from Kelsey Emerson and Haleigh Castner came on for the final two innings of the one-sided blowout. Emerson also helped an EU offense that had four players with multiple hits, going 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI.

“It seems like senior night is always our best night of the year,” East Union head coach Brian Goulart said. “It was really fun. Pitching, defense, hitting; it was all going good for us tonight.”

Laura Gann was 4 for 4 with a triple and three RBI, while teammate Jessica Campa also collected four hits in the win. Kailee Nuding drove in a run and was 2 for 4 and Lancer senior Carynn Moll anchored an East Union defense that provided six innings of solid play.

Oakdale 12, Manteca 2

The Buffaloes fell behind early and could not recover, getting stopped in six innings by the VOL’s top team.

Oakdale asserted itself as the dominant team with a five-run first inning followed by a four-run second. Manteca was able to scratch across two runs in the third inning, but that would be Manteca’s only success.

The Buffaloes could only muster three hits against the Mustangs, getting a knock from Peyton Rose, Selena Gonzalez and Annissa Gonzalez. Both Selena Gonzalez and Mia Ramirez came around to score for Manteca, with Rose driving them both in.

Kimball 10, Weston Ranch 0

The Cougars made tremendous strides as a program this season but could not close on a high note after a 10-0 loss to Kimball.

Weston Ranch (5-9, 13-11-1) turned in the most productive season in school history, setting new highs in both league and overall win totals.

“It was a tough way to end it, but overall the program has came a long way,” Cougars head coach Janelle Bauer said. “I’m very happy with the way the girls played this year. We put together the most wins Weston Ranch has ever had and they worked really hard this year.

“We may not have accomplished all the goals we set out to accomplish, but we definitely made strides.

Weston Ranch will have its core nucleus returning to Bauer’s club next season.

Sierra 9, Sonora 3

The Timberwolves pounded Sonora into its season end, finishing the Wildcats off with a 9-3 VOL season-ending win Thursday.

Both Gianna Lenoci and Lily Gonzalez were 3 for 4 in the win, while Gabby Olmo and Elena Flores both went 2 for 3. Leadoff hitter Iyana Hughes continued her recent hot streak, going a perfect 2 for 2 in two trips to the plate.

Katelynn Perkins and Lexus Barnes combined for a six-hitter.
