Ranch rallies past Edison in 5 games

STOCKTON— Weston Ranch avenged its season-opening loss from 2016 on Tuesday but needed a late-match turnaround to do so.
Host Edison had the momentum in forcing a deciding fifth game, but the Cougars rediscovered their groove to escape with a 25-23, 25-20, 13-25, 25-27, 15-7 win.
Returning All-Valley Oak League first-team selection Amaya Finley led the way with 17 kills and six aces. Senecia Patten added eight kills and three blocks, while Nayeli Moreno dished out 23 assists.
Weston Ranch improved to 3-2 and heads to Stagg on Thursday. The Cougars also won both lower-level matches, 2-0.

MERCED — The Lancers could not get on track in their season-opening defeat.
Savannah LeBarre registered five kills, Jaidyn Valencia had four blocks and Kiana Day chipped in nine digs.

Sierra 3, McNair 0
The Timberwolves (2-1) toppled McNair in their home opener 25-15, 21-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-4.
Additional information was not provided. Sierra won the sophomore contest in two sets.

Tatiana Franco tallied nine service points, and Emily Esparza added eight as Sierra rolled to a 25-5, 25-10 victory.
