FREMONT – Ripon’s Donny Fontillas won first place at 138 pounds for Ripon in the Webber/Lawson Invitational on Saturday and teammate Owen Gollinger (285) had to leave early and was forced to forfeit the fifth-place match.
“We are happy with the way we wrestled,” Indians coach Glen White said. “Gollinger is just been out for a couple of weeks and he is getting into wrestling shape from football shape.”
SAN LEANDRO – Sierra’s Alexis Garcia took third at 170 pounds with an impressive third-round pin in the consolation championship.
“Alexis wrestled well,” Timberwolves coach Alex Nuanez said. “It was a very tough tournament with many state qualifiers.”
Alyssa Oliver (121), Alayna Swilley (126) and Marissa Hernandez (116) took fourth for Ripon and teammate Faith Borges (131) was fifth.
OAKDALE – Mario Ragosa was fourth for Lathrop at 220 pounds.
Elijah Thomas dropped his first match and then went on a winning streak, but due to the bracket configuration he was unable to wrestle for the consolation championship and finished eighth.
