FREMONT – Ripon’s Donny Fontillas won first place at 138 pounds for Ripon in the Webber/Lawson Invitational on Saturday and teammate Owen Gollinger (285) had to leave early and was forced to forfeit the fifth-place match.
“We are happy with the way we wrestled,” Indians coach Glen White said. “Gollinger is just been out for a couple of weeks and he is getting into wrestling shape from football shape.”

SAN LEANDRO – Sierra’s Alexis Garcia took third at 170 pounds with an impressive third-round pin in the consolation championship.
“Alexis wrestled well,” Timberwolves coach Alex Nuanez said. “It was a very tough tournament with many state qualifiers.”
Alyssa Oliver (121), Alayna Swilley (126) and Marissa Hernandez (116) took fourth for Ripon and teammate Faith Borges (131) was fifth.
Oakdale Tournament
OAKDALE – Mario Ragosa was fourth for Lathrop at 220 pounds.
Elijah Thomas dropped his first match and then went on a winning streak, but due to the bracket configuration he was unable to wrestle for the consolation championship and finished eighth.
