Freshman L.J. Legan knocked down six 3-pointers and totaled 23 points Wednesday, leading Manteca to a 68-46 Valley Oak League boys basketball win over visiting Oakdale.
The Mustangs (2-4 VOL, 8-15 overall) was competitive to start, leading 15-13 after the opening period. Manteca (5-1, 15-8) answered with a 16-6 second quarter and caught fire offensively the rest of the game.
Elijah Nelson contributed 15 points, while forwards Micah Crawford and Santiago Sanders chipped in nine apiece.
The Buffaloes host Kimball on Friday.
Ripon Christian 71, Hughson 60
The host Knights (6-1, 16-6 overall) scored 12 unanswered points to begin the game and led wire-to-wire, but Hughson (1-6, 8-12) remained competitive against the Trans-Valley League co-leaders.
The Huskies cut the deficit to 60-58 with 4:45 to go before Ripon Christian responded with a decisive 9-0 run.
Jace Beidleman paced RC with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore Jake Vander Veen compiled 18 points, six boards and three assists. Luke Crivello collected 16 points, four rebounds and three assists. Mason Tameling tallied 12 points.
Jackson Gehrke led Hughson with 18 points.
Ripon Christian has the rest of the week off from game action and welcomes Escalon next Tuesday with hopes of avenging its lone TVL loss.
Ripon 66, Livingston 37
Ripon (6-1, 17-6) dominated the TVL contest, taking a 41-17 halftime lead.
Nine different Indians scored and were headed by Ty Herrin’s 11 points and five rebounds. Landon Gillespie had 10 points, five assists and three assists, while Logan Lefebvre pitched in 10 points and four steals.
Marcus Madoski added nine points, five rebounds and three blocks.
Livingston (2-5, 7-16) was led by Adrian Aguirre’s 18 points.
Lathrop 44, Pacheco 36
The Spartans (5-4, 7-14) picked up a third consecutive Western Athletic Conference win as they remain in contention for a postseason berth.
Reniel Crisostomo spearheaded them with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Bobby Cotton contributed seven points.
GIRLS SOCCER
Sierra 1, Oakdale 1
The Timberwolves (2-1-3 VOL, 12-4-6 overall) missed an opportunity to come away with a big road win but hit the post.
Both goals came in the second half. Payton Abrew put away Sierra’s and was assisted by Hailey Cruz. Goalkeeper Zoe Sandoval racked up five saves.
Mia Peterson scored for the Mustangs (3-2-2, 12-6-3).
BOYS SOCCER
Lathrop 1, Pacheco 1
In Los Banos, Lathrop (7-1-1, 13-4-4) could not capitalize on multiple late opportunities in this first-place Western Athletic Conference clash.
Ociel Mora gave the Spartans the lead early on, finishing a 1v1 set up by Jorge Garcia’s through ball. Pacheco (7-1-2, 12-3-2) answered later in the half, converting on a long-range attempt.
The Panthers won the JV game, 1-0.

Manteca 55, Oakdale 51
The Buffaloes won it in overtime with Evan White scoring 14 points to lead three players in double figures.
Devon Richardson and Antonio Fraley chimed in with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Cooper Chamberlain chipped in nine points.
Lathrop 48, Pacheco 36
Justin Neal amassed 18 points to pace the victorious Spartans. Carson Scott and A.J. Patel added 10 and seven points, respectively.

Kaylee Rodriguez buried the lone goal for Sierra, which was assisted by Peyton Duarte.

Adrian Vaye recorded his second triple-double of the season with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals.
Kimball 58 Sierra 41
Isaac Kempf collected 17 points and 14 rebounds, but it was not enough for the Timberwolves (4-3, 12-8).
