The Ripon girls basketball team halted a six-game skid on Thursday, routing Hilmar 41-26 in a Trans-Valley League game at home.
Kailee Inderbitzin scored all 12 of her points in the first half, including three 3-pointers in the second quarter. That helped the Indians (2-6 TVL, 8-4 overall) stake a 25-13 halftime lead, and they held Hilmar (2-6, 10-10) to single digits in every period. The senior guard/forward also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
“It was nice to see the girls win each quarter and not give up a lead in the second half,” Ripon coach Rick Inderbitzin said. “Hopefully we can build on this going into a tough three-game week with all of the top teams in our league.”
With Kailee Inderbitzin doing damage from the perimeter, Shayla McKeon owned the paint with 16 rebounds. Freshman guards Ava Hernandez and Kaylee Lehmkuhl added nine and seven points, respectively. Lehmkuhl also dished out six assists.
Camryn Mattos led Hilmar with 14 points.
Ripon has a tough stretch to end the regular season, starting with a trip to Riverbank next Tuesday.
Lathrop 40, Grace Davis 38
Lathrop (7-3, 17-8 overall) overcame an up-and-down effort to avoid a Western Athletic Conference upset against visiting Grace Davis (1-9, 8-13), which led by as much as eight in the fourth quarter.
Lathrop amped up the pressure defensively to force turnovers and surge back to the lead. Davis had a chance to at least tie it at the end, but Shakara Porter came up with the win-sealing steal to cap off her triple-double performance.
The sophomore forward finished with 11 steals to go with 12 points and 19 rebounds. Tatiana Lowery led all scorers with 17 points to go with three steals.
GIRLS SOCCER
Ripon Christian 4, Delhi 0
The Knights (8-1-1, 16-3-1 overall) took care of business on the road Thursday, setting up their Southern Athletic League showdown with Orestimba. They host the first-place Warriors next Monday, looking to avenge a 1-0 loss.
Brooke Barnes got Ripon Christian started in the 19th minute, finishing after a cross from Alanna Blanco. She doubled the lead with a left-footed strike in the second half. Dayna Koolhaas scored a minute later, and Blanco capped off the barrage.
Reece Rost, Morgan Schenk and Helia Vander Meulen contributed with assists Goalie Tara Heida got the shutout.
JV girls basketball
Lathrop 46, Grace Davis 31
Kriselle Matela spearheaded Lathrop with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. Grace Davis opened with nine unanswered points, but Lathrop answered with 17 straight in the first quarter and ended with a 10-3 fourth period.
Tatianna Lopez contributed 13 points, even rebounds and eight steals. Zoha Ali added eight points, six boards and three steals.
Ripon 41, Hilmar 24
Scarlett Ponce produced 13 points, while Lauren Peters had 10 for the Indians. McKenzie Spears chipped in six points and 10 rebounds.

Lathrop 47, Grace Davis 5
The Spartans (7-2 WAC) blew it open with a 23-point outburst in the first quarter
Brianna Valencia led them with 11 points, Laniyah Stroud-Prince scored nine and Hazel Beltran had eight.
