STOCKTON — Nick Sharp just missed making the cut Monday for next week’s Nor-Cal Tournament at Corral de Tierra Country Club in Salinas.

The Ripon High golfer shot a 73 at the Sac-Joaquin Section Boys Golf Masters Championships, finishing one stroke shy of the four-way logjam vying for the final berth.

Daniel Pena of Johansen had already secured one of the individual spots, firing a 71 during the 18-rounds in the Les Schwab Tires-sponsored event at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Brian Sterri of Whitney also carded a 71 to anchor down the other spot.

Brad Reeves of Lodi earned medalist honor thanks to his four-under-par 68 in windy conditions.

Sac-Joaquin Section will also be represented by first-place Granite Bay (368) followed by Jesuit (375) and Central Catholic (379), respectively.

Ripon Christian, led by No. 1 player Kyle Colyn (75), had a team score of 427, finishing 13th in the 15-team field. Rounding out the scoring for the Knights were Andrew Manes (81), Jesse De Rousse (92), Austin Alger (94), Ryan Garcia (95) and Tristan Vos (104).

However, the encore for the Masters was the playoff on the No. 9 hole involving Branson Ropp of Folsom, Sam Harned of Rocklin, Chris Ebster of Gregori and Patrick Niland of Rio Americano.

Each scored 72.

In dramatic fashion, Ebster won that last spot by sinking a 20-foot downhill putt for birdie.
