Starla Skiles earned four top-seeded times for the finals, and fellow Ripon senior Marcus Madoski won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V high jump title Wednesday during the Sac-Joaquin Section Divisions IV and V trials held at Riverbank High.
Madoski is one of two area athletes to already have punched their tickets to the SJS Masters meet, which takes place May 23-24 at Folsom High. The Divisions IV and V champions in each event and next four best overall finishers by mark advance to Masters.
Madoski, one of the top-ranked high jumpers in the state, won handily with a leap of 6 feet, 6 inches.
Also qualifying for Masters is Lathrop’s Alyvia Galano, who placed third in the Division IV pole vault (9-06) while placing fourth overall.
Skiles dominated in her track events. She clocked the fastest times in the 100-meter dash (12.35), 100 hurdles (14.22) and 300 hurdles (44.69). She’s also on the top-seeded 4x400 with Kaiya Kroutil, Olivia Ellis and Clara Schoolland. They finished in 4 minutes, 4.77 seconds.
Lathrop has two relays holding No. 1 seeds for the finals. The boys 4x400 of Nathaniel Kusske, Adrian Vaye, Jarren Holloway and Malachi Gonzalez checked in at 3:30.29. The boys 4x800 of Riley Gier, Caleb Montiel, Eshan Clair and Vaye leads the pack with a time of 8:29.63.
