Valencia scores 3 for Sierra

The Sierra girls soccer team broke visiting Pitman’s string of shutout wins with a dominant effort Tuesday, rolling 4-0 behind Daisy Valencia’s hat trick at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.
The Timberwolves (5-0-1) have marched to five straight victories since opening their season with a 3-3 tie at Gregori last week.
Valencia missed Sierra’s two Saturday games in the Vern Gebhardt Cup. She broke the ice Tuesday in the 30th minute, working off a feed from Yasmin Ballew. She struck again in the 43rd and 62nd minutes, with freshman Jenna Villanueva assisting her final goal.
Tiana Cello capped scoring with an electric breakaway up the middle of the Pitman (2-1) defense. Callie Crain recorded three saves at goal for the Timberwolves.

Ripon 6, Linden 3
LINDEN — Aubree Pelon registered two goals and an assist in the dominant effort for the Indians (3-2-1). Linden (0-4) scored two late goals to cut the deficit in half.
Freshman phenom Ariana Scholten had one goal and two assists. Kelsey Wolf, Devaney Dougherty and Maddie Pugh added one goal apiece. Ashley Pugh, normally the team’s goalkeeper, contributed an assist to the attack.

Weston Ranch 2
STOCKCTON — A back-and-forth affair was cut 20 minutes short after a Weston Ranch player got injured and needed immediate medical attention.
Liz Medrano assisted both goals for the Cougars (2-4). She helped Weston Ranch take the early lead after finding Citalli Negrete in the eighth minute. The Cougars later took a 2-1 lead on Christina Carrillo’s goal in the 27th minute.
Ben Holt Academy (3-0) knotted it back up a minute later and recaptured the lead for good moments before the halftime whistle.
