While it’s still early, Weston Ranch High has reason to feel proud of its unprecedented start to the season.
The Cougars are riding a six-match winning streak and are one of the four remaining 2-0 squads in the Valley Oak League after sweeping visiting Manteca — 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 — on Tuesday.
Robyn Sison was central to Weston Ranch’s offensive success, as she dished out a match-high 16 assists. Senior outside hitter DeArbia Gardner was one of the main beneficiaries. She finished with six kills while Zelon Lane added four.
Middle blocker Desiree Fonoti pitched in two kills and four digs. Sidney Carter paced Weston Ranch (2-0, 6-1 overall) with a pair of blocks.
Manteca (0-2, 1-6) was led by Jimi Guibor’s six kills, Jessica Reeder’s 11 assists and two aces, Abigail Rosas’ 10 digs and Dallas Mould’s four blocks.
The Buffaloes won both lower-level matches, with the sophomore squad winning in three (25-20, 23-25, 15-7) and the freshman team sweeping (25-21, 25-22).
Chelsea Bereta produced three kills, four aces and two digs to lead the way. Victoria Schneider contributed with nine digs. Game scores were 10-25, 21-25, 11-25.
Sierra hopes to break the streak Thursday when Lathrop visits.
Mikaela Alger anchored the front row with six kills and three blocks, and Cassidy DeRousse aided the cause with five kills. Brittany Petlansky picked up 11 digs, while freshman Andie Shelton finished with 11 assists.
Ripon Christian heads to Denair Thursday.
