Cowboys kick off Central Valley playoffs with rout of Gladiators

The Manteca Cowboys varsity began the Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer playoffs with a resounding 61-0 win over the Central Valley Gladiators.

Manteca’s Nikko Hisapryor started the game with a 55-yard touchdown run on the first play and he later posted a 15-yard touchdown reception from Mehtaab Bhangu (150 yards passing, four touchdowns).

Bhangu added touchdown throws of 40 and 45 yards to Nikko Juarez and 50 yards to Tyler Pettis. Daryl Carpenter scored on a 30-yard run and Ricky Soria had a 25-yard touchdown run.  

Damien Delgadillo, Dean Sorotnis and Juarez all made five tackles each and Juarez made an interception.

 

Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 28, Manteca Jr. Flames 0

Maddox Morales ran for two Manteca touchdowns.

Morales totaled 115 yards on seven carries with scoring runs of 28 and 35 yards. Albert Menchaca (10 carries, 73 yards) had a 24-yard touchdown run and Abel Garcia threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to William Ellis.

Dominic Amato led the Cowboys defense with five tackles.

 

Junior varsity

Giovani Perry had a perfect day passing for Manteca.

Perry was 7 for 7 passing for 122 yards with a 30-yard touchdown pass for Logan Yagi (two receptions, 50 yards). Erian Johnson Jr. added a 4-yard touchdown run and Jonathon Morales (six carries, 35 yards) ran in a touchdown from 7 yards out. Adrian Sena made two catches for 42 yards.

Terrance Montgomery, Elias Lopez, Daniel Bass Jr., Bryan Lewis and Johnathan Morales contributed to the Cowboys offense.

Logan Yagi led the Manteca defense with eight tackles, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery. Sena (seven tackles), Jonathan Morales (five tackles) and Antonio Sanchez (four tackles) all forced a fumble. Elijah Abadon added five stops, Malriq De La Rosa four with three apiece for Erian Johnson Jr. (two fumble recoveries), Devin Cortinas, Caden Miller, Montgomery, D.J. Bass, Landon Sanders and Antonio Sanchez.

 

Jr. Buffaloes 47, Ceres Jr. Bulldogs 0

Manteca’s Brody Carabello threw for three touchdowns and ran for two, totaling nearly 400 all-purpose yards.

Carabello (270 yards passing; three carries, 100 yards) had touchdown throws of 40 yards to Blake Scalese (three catches, 110 yards), 33 yards to Gabe Ramirez (four catches, 102 yards) and 58 yards to Leiland Riggelman along with touchdown runs of 31 and 65 yards. Riggleman added a 16-yard touchdown run and Alex Espinoza scored on a 3-yard run. Santino Sanchez totaled 50 yards rushing.

Carabello led the Jr. Buffaloes defense with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. Riggelman added nine tackles, Alex Espinoza eight, Adrian Tamayo six and Logan Qualls four.

Bailey Ybarra gained 90 yards on nine carries for the Cowboys.

Mateo Gavino tallied 72 yards on 10 carries for the Cowboys and Jayden Ontai contributed to the Cowboys offense.

Gavino led the Cowboys defense with 12 tackles. Bailey Ybarra added six stops with Ontai, Sebastian Leon and Emilio Covarrubias chipping in four tackles each.
