Vinny Diaz scored three touchdowns for the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity, which racked up 364 yards of offense in a 57-0 thumping of the Lodi Jr. Flames in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action Saturday at Tokay High.

Vinny Diaz (11 carries, 104 yards) ran for scores of 20 and 24 yards along with a 65-yard interception return, Brach Carabello (115 yards passing) threw a 71-yard scoring pass to Ethan Bonderer, Israel Juarez scored a touchdown on his only run from 60 yards out, Arieon Shortridge scored on an 8-yard run and Navi Murillo from 9 yards out. Kristian Miranda rounded out the Manteca scoring parade by notching a safety.
John Ellis paced the Buffaloes defense with five tackles and a fumble recovery, Grant Catalano made four tackles with three each for Navi Murillo (fumble recovery) and Aizen English with Vinny Diaz recovering a fumble.

Lathrop Jr. Spartans 20, Ceres Jr. Bulldogs 0

The Jr. Spartans used a balanced attack for the home win.

Logan Martinez (seven carries, 32 yards) and Jackson Guardiola each scored a rushing touchdown for Lathrop. Zyann Reno gained 69 yards on 12 carries.

Manuel Lupercio (five tackles) returned an interception for a Spartans touchdown, Johnny Silvas added six tackles and Kenneth Certuche six.

Jr. varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 20, Jr. Flames 13

Manteca’s A.J. Haines threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jet Johnson.

Haines (4 of 6 passing, 110 yards) and Haines connected on scoring plays of 35 and 40 yards with Dre Johnson running for a 7-yard score. Quinnie Dunbar (nine carries, 87 yards) and Jayden Jourdan contributed to the Jr. Buffaloes offense.

Adrian Reyes-Echeverria led the Manteca defense with four tackles. Gabriel Torres and Christopher Duenas Jr. each made three stops and a fumble recovery.

Jr. Bulldogs 6, Jr. Spartans 0 (OT)

Dominic Ramos, Ethan Jones and Jordan Romo contributed to the Lathrop offense.

Jace Williams made five tackles for the Spartans with four apiece for Romo and Denzel Taani-Taufui.

Rookies

Manteca’s Jeremiah Williams scored two touchdowns.

Williams (six carries, 62 yards) scored on runs of 3 and 47 yards an Evan Hernandez added a 23-yard touchdown run. Jessy Arceo Jr. added 65 yards on eight carries and Harrison Catalano chipped in 41 yards on seven carries.

Arceo Jr. made seven tackles with five apiece for Harrison Catalano, Jeremiah Williams (fumble recovery) and James Gordley and three each for Gilbert Maldonado and Michael Somera.

Jr. Bulldogs 34, Jr. Spartans 26

Lathrop’s Josh Certuche scored on runs of 22 and 59 yards.

Marshall Johnwell (nine carries for 102 yards) added a Jr. Spartans touchdown from a yard out and Jasean Baker (10 carries for 90 yards) scored on a 3-yard run.

Johnwell tallied six tackles, Gilbert Arreola five and Kamden Smith four.

Lathrop’s Isaac Certuche scored a 55-yard touchdown.

Certuche gained 124 yards on nine carries. August Allen (four carries, 42 yards) added a 25-yard touchdown run.

King Dawson paced the Jr. Spartans defense with eight tackles while Mathias Pena and Giovanni Sanchez made three tackles apiece.
