Knights come up short against Hilmar in high-scoring TVYFL tilt

Stadtler Postma threw for four touchdowns for the Ripon Knights, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Hilmar Packers in a 36-32 defeat in Trans-Valley Youth Football League play.

Postma was 16 of 24 passing for 196 yards. Hudson Schenk made eight catches for 121 yards with touchdown receptions of 4, 14 and 29 yards and Chris Alfaro (nine carries, 115 yards) added a 6-yard touchdown catch. 

Ryder Shelton led the Knights with seven tackles, Drew Walker six and four apiece for Joe Wallace and Max Abrew. Jacob Ramirez, Xavier Powell, Kevin Torres, Joshue Gonzalez and Cody Foster all contributed on defense.

 

Junior varsity

Knights 30, Packers 16

Four different Ripon players scored.

Jessy Vega (81 yards rushing) scored on a 38-yard run, Travis Maltes (50 yards rushing) had a 5-yard touchdown run and Brayden Dell'Osso punched in a score from 2 yards out and Jack Schaapman pulled in a 56-yard touchdown pass from Mason Dodson. Ayden Brown chipped in 32 yards rushing with offensive contributions from Johnathan Postma and Hudson Rushing.

Nathan Fletcher and Hudson Anthony had seven tackles and a forced fumble apiece with five tackles for Tyce Sanchez and four for Jessy Vega. Zane Thompson and Schaapman both recovered a fumble with defensive contributions from Rocky Gonzales, Jax Heuvel, David Van Klaveren, Max Neto, George Bogetti, Urijah Ochoa and Cal De Bruin.

 

Novice

Knights 34, Packers 14

Ripon’s Hudson Postma tallied 211 offensive yards with five touchdowns.

Owen Degenstein was 4 of 7 passing for 62 yards connecting with Tyce Thompson for a 28-yard pass and Eli Perez for a 25-yard pass.

Adrien Anaya and Chase Rubenaker both had seven tackles and a fumble recovery for the Knights. David Wegner added five tackles with Robert Fletcher and Shooter Bruns sharing a safety.

 

Jr. Novice

Knights 39, Hilmar 0

Ripon’s Lucas Durao set the tone with a 70-yard touchdown run on the game’s first play.

Nikolai Gorbunoff added 111 yards on five carries with touchdown runs of 21 and 81 yards, Eli Browne (three carries, 47 yards) scored on a 35-yard run, Jaxson Quilantang added a 20-yard scoring run and Keegan Lewellen scored from 3 yards out. Mearl Thompson chipped in 32 yards rushing.

The Knights defense forced four turnovers with Lucas Durao (seven tackles) making two fumble recoveries, Nikolai Gorbunoff (four tackles) recovering one fumble and Quilantang (three tackles) forcing one fumble and recovering two. Aiden John made four tackles, Jackson Rubio three with two each for Chase Johnson, Levi Reeder, Val Gomez, Logan Stirrat and Hunter Stewart.
