Knights shut out by Modesto Rams

The Modesto Rams downed the Ripon Knights junior varsity 32-0 in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action on Saturday.

Cal DeBruin led Ripon’s defense with seven tackles. Hudson Anthony added six stops with five each for Rocky Gonzales, Zane Thompson and Jessy Vega. Izaiah Fay, Travis Maltes and Tyce Sanchez contributed on defense.

Jessy Vega rushed for 70 with 22 yards for Travis Maltes and contributions from Ayden Brown and Maverick Brum.

 

Novice

Rams 37, Knights 25

Ripon’s Owen Degenstein connected with Hudson Postma for two touchdowns.

Degenstein and Postma combined for 146 yards with the longest of the two touchdowns being a 92-yard touchdown pass. Postma logged a 65-yard rushing touchdown and Tyce Thompson scored on a 48-yard run.

Elijah Perez led the Knights with seven tackles. Adrien Anaya and Shooter Bruns added six stops apiece with five each for Caleb Thoming, Austin Stirrat, Brayden Camara and Chase Rubenaker. Hudson Postma added an interception.

Rams 19, Knights 0

Ripon’s Chase Johnson made 10 tackles

Nikolai Gorbunoff added eight stops followed by Lucas Durao with seven, Jaxson Quilantang with five, Mearl Thompson with four and contributions from Eli Browne, Aiden Anaya, Ben Holfman, Aiden John, Jackson Rubio and Parker Jones.

Durao posted 76 rushing and nine receiving yards for the Knights. Gorbunoff, Thompson and Browne contributed on offense.

Dublin Irish 26, Manteca Chargers 0

Stephen Graham, Jayden Omadhebo and Eric Yamamoto made three tackles apiece for the Manteca varsity.

Eric Yamamoto gained 60 yards on six carries for the Chargers and Jayden Omadhebo added 27 yards on four carries.

 

Junior varsity

Irish 31, Chargers 7

Jameson Hicks scored the lone Manteca touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Hicks had 13 carries for 42 yards and Julian Baez added 28 yards on five.

Valentino Dominguez mad five tackles and forced a fumble for the Chargers. Jameson Hicks, Israel Juarez-Salgado, Aizen English, Kingston Johnson and Dominick Jimenez added two tackles apiece.

 

Novice

Chargers 12, Irish 6

Lloyal Galtney, Jayden Shortridge, Royce Robinson and Areion Shortridge paced the Manteca offense.  

Galtney (five carries, 69 yards) scored on a 20-yard run and Robinson (three completions, 33 yards; two carries, 30 yards) threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Areion Shortridge and Jayden Shortridge gained 50 yards on three carries.

Areion Shortridge made five tackles with three apiece for Blake Rauchman, Jayden Shortridge and Jeremiah Silva.

 

Junior novice

Chargers 21, Irish 14

Manteca’s Jharon Jackson romped for nearly 150 yards and scored a touchdown.

Jackson had eight carries for 144 yds and scored on a 15-yard run. Choyce Galtney (four carries, 54 yards) added an 11-yard scoring run and Jameson Vargas (three carries, 25 yards) scored from 7 yards out.

Aiden Reyes made five tackles for the Chargers with three apiece for Jackson (forced fumble, interception) and Aiden Green (fumble recovery). Isaiah Ledesma, Izaiah Shortridge, Jaeden Macutay, Adrian Agtarap and Derringer Spangler all contributed on defense.
