Sea Lions repeat as MVSL champions

TRACY — Highlighted by two meet records, the Ripon Sea Lions won the Mid-Valley Swim League Championships on Saturday at West High’s Pinkie Phillips Aquatic Center for the second year in a row and the fifth of the last six, claiming six individual high-point titles along the way.
The Sea Lions totaled 1,480 points, while runner-up and meet host Tracy Tritons finished with 1,154. The Manteca Dolphins placed fifth with 534.5 points and had two high-point winners.
Competing in a field of one, Ripon’s Andria Martin swam to a record time of 1 minute, 3.92 seconds in the girls 17-18 year-old 100-yard butterfly, besting the mark she set last year (1:04.48) by nearly half a second. Martin is also the individual points champion for her age group.
In the boys 9-10 200 freestyle relay, Matthew Lee, Brody Biedermann, Nate Slikker and Benjamin Corgiat tallied a record-setting finish in 2:05.90, eclipsing the 5-year-old record of 2:06.39.
Corgiat, Slikker, Biedermann and Lee were also the top four finishers in that order in the high-point standings for the boys 9-10 age group. Chetan Harvey finished in sixth place.
Nathan Trujillo and Trevor Bell were the top two placers in boys 7-8, while Kiran Tran and Lucas Rietkerk took fourth and fifth, respectively. In girls 7-8, Emery Biedermann and Bailey Brayton went 1-2 and Taylor Paris came in sixth.
The Sea Lions also took first, second and sixth in the girls 9-10 division with Keira Brink, Giolanna Loretelli and Faith Fasani. Molly Burton claimed the girls 13-14 crown.
Other Sea Lions placing in the high-point standings: Lauren Daigre (fifth, girls 13-14), Hunter Goudeau (second, boys 11-12), Ben Rogers (third, boys 11-12), Carter Mensonides (fifth, boys 11-12), Karissa Stewart (second, girls 15-16), Xavier Chavez (fourth, boys 17-18) and Craig Randolph (fifth, boys, 13-14).
Michael Chavez and Emma Kadillak were Manteca’s top performers, earning individual championships in the boys 13-14 and girls 15-16 divisions, respectively. Other Dolphins placing in the high point standings: Gabriel Monasterio (second, boys 13-14), Mo Silva (second, girls 6-under), Samantha Cerritos (third, girls 15-16), Christina Oates (sixth, girls 17-18) and Jordan Treydte (sixth, boys 17-18).
