Menez leads Giants to win over Nuts

MODESTO, (AP) — Conner Menez allowed just six hits over eight innings, leading the San Jose Giants over the Modesto Nuts in a 2-1 win on Friday.
Dylan Rheault got Joey Curletta to hit into a double play with a runner on first to end the game for his seventh save of the season.
Menez (6-3) allowed one run while striking out six and walking two to get the win.
San Jose started the scoring in the second inning. After leading off the inning with a single, Aramis Garcia scored following singles by Gio Brusa and John Polonius.
After San Jose added a run in the sixth when Ronnie Jebavy scored on an error, the Nuts cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Braden Bishop hit an RBI single, bringing home Rayder Ascanio.
Nathan Bannister (3-5) went seven innings, allowing two runs and four hits while striking out five to take the hard-luck loss in the California League game.
