TRACY — Manteca kept the pedal to the metal from start to finish Tuesday, needing just four innings in routing Spreckels Park 24-1 in quarterfinal action of the District 67 8-10 All-Star Tournament at Legacy Fields.
With the bats and base running going into overdrive for Manteca, Brixton Ortiz was masterful on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing no hits, allowing just one walk and one base runner on an error while striking out eight.
Ortiz knocked in five runs and scored four, going 4 for 4 along with Louis Rivera (three RBI, five runs). Madden Melendez laced an inside-the-park home run, going 4 for 5 with two RBI and four runs. Matea Ceja (2 for 2, three runs, three walks) and Fabian Nuno (three runs, RBI) rounded out the relentless Manteca attack.
Spreckels Park got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. After Ortiz left the game, Spreckels Park drew four consecutive walks with Chad Simas Jr. walking in Angel Aguilar.
In a rematch of the Tournament of Champions, Manteca will square off with Lathrop on Friday in the semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Spreckels Park faces Patterson in a consolation game today at 5:30 p.m.
 
Lathrop 10, Ripon 1
Josiah Mejorado and Tommy Hammond accounted for half of Lathrop’s 10 hits in the quarterfinal win.
Mejorado was 3 for 3 with a double and three runs and Tommy Hammond was 2 for 4 with a double and a run.
Trailing 3-1 going into the third inning, Lathrop put up four runs in the frame behind doubles by Mejorado and Hammond. Lathrop added two more in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Leadoff batter Landon Corcoran did his job for Ripon, reaching base four times going 3 for 3 with two doubles a run and a walk. Dylan Parker went 2 for 2 with a run and Cade Huiskin (triple, run) and Noah De Bruyn (double) were both 2 for 3.
Lathrop and Manteca play in the semifinal Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Ripon faces Northgate in a consolation contest today at 5:30.
