Spreckels Park BMX in Manteca played host to another special event on Sunday, drawing some of the pioneers of the sport from all over Northern California. Ceres-based Jeff Burgess, who had raced for some of the premier factory race teams in the Early 70s put together a ‘First Decade BMXer’ show and shine, bringing out dozens of vintage BMX race machines. A special Race was held, with racers young and old riding the classic machines on the track and bringing joy and a sense of history to all who attended. In regular race action, the “old guys” (and ladies) stole the show, with a full gate of eight 41-and-Over Cruiser competitors battling for the top prize.
